The Wairarapa Gravel Series began with a simple idea. While the South Island is known for its gravel races, the lower North Island — and especially the Wairarapa — is packed with incredible gravel roads that are largely unexplored. Long valleys, quiet farm roads, rolling hills, and remote backcountry routes make this region perfect for gravel riding.

Created by Tom, a cyclist and local bike shop owner, the series exists to showcase these roads and bring riders together to experience them properly. It’s about great routes, good people, and riding through places you might never otherwise see. The Wairarapa has the gravel — this series is here to prove it.
